If you sell tack regularly — whether you’re a saddlery, a rug shop, a feed-and-supply store or a one-person operation working out of the tackroom — a business storefront gives your listings a proper home and your brand a proper face.

What is a business storefront?

A storefront is a branded page on The Tack Market that belongs to your business. You pick the URL — www.thetackmarket.co.nz/store/yourname— and every listing you post sits alongside the others under your name, your logo and your tagline.

Think of it as the difference between selling out of a stall at the market versus having your own shopfront with your name above the door. Same gear, same buyers — bigger signal that you’re here to stay.

What does a storefront look like?

Every business storefront includes:

  • A custom banner image at the top of your page
  • Your business logo and legal name
  • A short tagline and a longer About section to tell your story
  • All your active listings displayed together, sorted newest first
  • A “Business” badge on every listing so buyers know they’re shopping from a registered seller
  • Direct link to your storefront from every listing card

Buyers can land on your store either by clicking your name from a listing, by typing the URL straight in, or eventually by browsing our directory of business sellers.

What are the benefits?

Free unlimited listings

Casual sellers pay $1.99 per listing. Businesses pay nothing to list, no matter how many items you have on the market.

Branded presence

Your logo, your colours, your story. Buyers see you as a business, not an anonymous seller.

Every listing carries a "Business" badge — a strong signal to buyers who are tired of guessing whether they're dealing with a real shop.

4.99% commission per sale (min $0.99, capped at $100) — no monthly fee, no listing fee, no surprises.

Do I qualify?

The Tack Market is built to be welcoming. Anyone selling tack as a business can register— you don’t need an NZBN, you don’t need to be GST-registered, you don’t need a minimum number of listings. If you think of yourself as a business and you’d rather pay on success than per-listing, you qualify.

We do reserve the right to revoke a storefront if it turns out to be misused — for example, a casual seller trying to dodge listing fees on a single item, or someone using a storefront to mislead buyers. In practice this means the business storefront tier only makes sense if you genuinely sell often. For one-off sales, the casual $1.99 listing is better value.

What does it cost?

Business pricing
$0 to list. 4.99% on sale.
  • No listing fees — post as many items as you want, free
  • No subscription — no monthly cost, no annual plan
  • 4.99% commission per sale — minimum $0.99, capped at $100 per item
  • Stripe processing fees apply on top, as they would on any card payment

A $50 rug sells — you pay $2.50 commission. A $500 saddle sells — you pay $24.95. A $5,000 trailer sells — you pay $100 (capped). For comparison, the same items listed as a casual would have cost you $1.99 each up front but kept the full sale price. Once you’re consistently selling, business is the better deal.

How do I sign up?

  1. Make sure you’re signed in to your Tack Market account.
  2. Head to Set up a business storefront in your account.
  3. Pick your storefront URL — something short and recognisable, e.g. /store/saddleworld. You can’t change it later, so choose well.
  4. Enter your business name, a one-line tagline, and a short About paragraph.
  5. Hit Activate business storefront.

That’s it. Your storefront goes live immediately and your next listing will be free.

What happens after I sign up?

  • You’ll get a welcome email confirming your storefront is live, with the direct link.
  • Every listing you post from that point on is free — no per-listing fee.
  • Every sale automatically deducts the 4.99% commission and pays the rest straight into your Stripe Connect account.
  • Edit your banner, logo, tagline, or About text any time from your storefront settings.
  • Need to pause? You can hide individual listings or close listings entirely at any time.
